STU and Campus
Founded in 1981 with the approval of the State Council, Shantou University is a key comprehensive university under the "211 Project" in the Guangdong province. It is a university co-developed by the Ministry of Education, People’s Government of the Guangdong Province, and the Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF). It is also the only public university in the world which is continually supported by a private foundation—the Li Ka Shing Foundation. It is located in the northwestern area of Shantou, a harbor city, with its campus covering a total area of 1.28 sq.km. and a total floor space comprising 448,400 sq.m.
East Gate is a shopping district next to campus, which is consisted of restaurants, convenient stores, cafes, a hostel, herbal tea stores, boutiques, entertainment centers and so on.
University accommodation is a home away from home. In STU, we aim to provide a safe and comfortable on-campus accommodation for all international students.
Block H and I are two independent accommodating buildings for international students, and every room includes two rooms, one living room and a balcony and is equipped with air-conditioner, and a washing machine.

Accommodation: RMB 1,200 Yuan/month
Room Deposit (refundable): RMB 800 Yuan
Electricity and Water: RMB 50-200 Yuan/person/month (shared among the residents of each apartment, and will be directly deducted from the residents’ STU smart card monthly)
Food: RMB 300 – 700 Yuan/month
Transportation: RMB 2 Yuan/ride (Bus)
Books and materials: RMB 500-700 Yuan/year
STU Enactus, since its inception, have been committed to creating a better Chaoshan community. Currently we have successfully operated the "Lychee and Honey Project” "Ceramics Rebirth Project " "Phoenix Mountain Tea Promotion Project” and 10 other more projects. STU Enacteruers are actively involved in each project’s community; we put our knowledge learnt at school into action. For example: commercial operations, finance, branding etc. Combining the knowledge learnt and an entrepreneurial spirit we face our projects. Through the projects we help our customers create a business model, widen sale channels, and help our customers broaden their knowledge, etc. Our ultimate goal is to improve the living standards and quality of life of our customers, and establish a sustainable Chaoshan community.
It’s an international non-governmental not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development and cross-cultural global internship and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe, with a focus to empower young people so they can make a positive impact on society.

It was a non-profit service organization founded in April 27th, 1997, aims at supporting vulnerable youth, creating and increasing volunteering opportunities to enrich youth life, addressing community needs and developing a lifetime commitment to service.
